The Dangal Director Nitesh Tiwari’s made a new adventure into the romantic series with Bawaal. Staring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film was earlier slated for theatre release but landed on OTT with Prime Video.

Plot

Varun Dhawan as Ajay Dixit aka Ajju Bhaiyya as a high school teacher, spends his day bluffing people with a perfect image which he created for himself in Lucknow town. The image conscious Ajju Bhaiyya marries Nisha (Janhvi Kapoor) who has health issues and he keeps her away from public life, to avoid any embarrassment and loss of image.

One Day after a heated argument with Nisha, Ajju Bhaiyya goes to schools and gets irritated by a question asked by a student, which leads him to slap the student. Later he finds that the student happens to be the son of the local MLA. This is leads to Ajju’s Job and Image both at risk. Now what Ajju does to save his image and his marriage forms the rest of the movie.

Strengths:

Nitish Tiwari is a fantastic storyteller. Bawaal is refreshingly different storyline, well-knit adequate spells of Comedy, Romance, and Emotions added with a mix of History dating back to the World War II and Hitler. The Story is fast paced, and a complete family entertainer. Varun Dhawan as Ajju has played his role with ease, with his usual comic acts and his Six Pack body. Janhvi Kapoor, as usual graceful and Charming performed her role to the best of her capabilities. The screenplay and cinematography were good and choice of selection of locations add to overall movie.

Over all it’s a good movie, and you will not feel bored,  I am going with 3.5 stars out of 5
